Description

No. 23 Cornmarket Street is a house and shop originally built in the 17th century, which was refronted in the 18th century and has since been restored. The building is four storeys high with a double stuccoed front featuring a band at the second floor, a moulded cornice, and a parapet. It has two projecting three-sided bays that are three storeys tall, with 18th-century style sash windows, and the first-floor windows have moulded cornices. The back elevation retains a 17th-century appearance with two gables. Inside, there is a 17th-century staircase and some 18th-century panelling. The shopfront was replaced in 1969.
