Description
The facade of Number 12, known as Lloyds Bank, dates back to around 1780 and features 19th and 20th century alterations to the ground floor. This brick building stands three storeys high and has a five-window range. The ground floor is rusticated and includes pilasters, while the entrance on the right is framed by a stone doorcase. The first floor showcases five sash windows with moulded stone surrounds and cornices, with the central sash being pedimented. The second floor has five smaller sash windows, also with moulded stone surrounds. All windows have horns and eared architraves. The building exhibits rusticated quoins on the first and second floors and is topped with a heavy, dentilled eaves cornice, beneath a 20th century brick parapet with ironstone coping. Historically, this was Cobb's Bank and is noted as one of the first brick buildings in Banbury. The 20th century rebuilding at the rear is not considered of special architectural interest. The interior has not been inspected.
