Description
Church Street Stores is a house that now functions as both a house and a shop. It likely dates from the early 18th century, with a 19th-century extension. The building consists of two sections made of regularly coursed ironstone rubble. The left part features a steeply pitched Welsh slate roof, while the right part has a modern tile roof. Both sections have stone copings and two brick chimney stacks at the left ends.
The left section is a single unit, with one storey plus an attic. It has a shop door on the right and a wide shop window on the left, both of which are topped by a continuous wooden lintel. There is a sash window in the attic. The right section has a two-unit plan and also consists of one storey plus an attic. It features a central four-panelled door with an overlight, flanked by a sash window on the left and a three-light casement window on the right. There are two three-light casements in the attic. Wooden lintels are present throughout the building. The property occupies a prominent corner site. The interior has not been inspected, and the building is included for its group value.
