Description
Middle Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, with additions from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features slate roofs with brick end stacks. The building is L-shaped and has two storeys throughout. The front, which is from the 19th century, has a three-window range. The central entrance includes a panelled door with an overlight that has geometrical glazing. This entrance is flanked by sash windows with glazing bars and rendered architraves. There are three similar windows on the first floor. The rear wing, which is from the 18th century, has an entrance to the right that features a 20th-century door in a moulded wood frame. The ground floor has three-light metal casements set in wood frames, topped with arched stone heads, and there are three similar windows on the first floor. Inside, the farmhouse contains 18th and 19th-century fittings, including window seats, panelled shutters, and fireplaces. It was once part of the Shelswell Estate.
