Description
Numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 The Tithe Barn is a former tithe barn, now converted into four houses. It likely dates from the early 16th century and was converted in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of limestone rubble and has a concrete plain-tile roof. It features a 5- or 6-bay plan with a porch located to the left of the center. The front has a porch infilled with weatherboarding, along with some slits and small square openings in the adjacent bays. The doorways, casements, and dormer windows are from the 20th century. The ends of the barn have additional slits and ogee-shaped gable vents. Inside, the roof structure, which includes queen-post trusses, survives at least in part. The barn was probably built for Eynsham Abbey and is included for its group value.
