Description

Merton Grounds Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with some ashlar dressings, and has a concrete pantile roof with a brick gable stack. The building follows a 3-unit plan with outshuts. The symmetrical front elevation has four windows, projecting forward in the taller, two-bay central section. Displaying ashlar storey bands, the lower portion extends across the outer bays. All windows have renewed cross casements. The main roof is hipped to the front, with a large rebuilt stack on the rear gable, and continues as a catslide over the outer bays and the rear outshut, returning to the front above the first-floor windows of the outer bays. A brick dentil eaves course survives on the sides and rear, but has been altered on the front.
