Description

Troy Farmhouse is a large farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone with wooden lintels, brick, and features Welsh-slate roofs with brick stacks. The building is designed in an L-plan and consists of two storeys plus an attic. The right bay of the five-window front is narrower and made of rubble, suggesting it may be of earlier origin. Each bay has three-light casements on both floors, except for bay three, which has a two-light window above a glazed door, and there is a small window to the right of bay four. The roof includes five gabled dormers with 19th-century bargeboards and has four stacks with paired shafts. A lower wing extends to the right with additional casements. All openings in both ranges feature chamfered lintels. The rear of the main range is partly obscured by a 19th-century brick wing. The interior has not been inspected. The site has been recorded since the 16th century and is likely located on the site of a 15th-century manor house. The grounds also contain an ancient turf maze.
