Description
The Hollies is a house dating from 1636, as indicated by a datestone. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with wooden lintels and some marlstone-ashlar dressings, topped by a Welsh-slate roof featuring rebuilt rubble-and-brick gable stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys plus an attic high.
The front of the building has a regular arrangement of three windows, with first-floor casements consisting of three, three, and two lights. The ground floor features casements of four and three lights flanking a central doorway, which is topped by a flat canopy supported by shaped brackets. All window lintels have broad chamfers with stops, although only one window on the first floor retains its ovolo-moulded trade.
On the right gable wall, which faces the road, there are aligned casements of four, three, and two lights, along with an ornamental datestone inscribed "1636 NK." Both gables are finished with parapets that have projecting marlstone kneelers. The interior has not been inspected.
