Description
Kirtlington Park Stable Court, located approximately 100 meters to the west, is a stable and coach house complex dating from the mid-18th century. The building is constructed from limestone ashlar and features artificial stone-slate roofs with stone stacks. It consists of three ranges and a courtyard wall on the fourth side, standing two storeys high with an attic.
Each range has tall renewed cross windows on the ground floor, with 2-light casements above. The central range boasts a seven-window courtyard front, which includes blind windows in the middle bay and wide doorways in bays two and six, both featuring wide six-panelled doors, large overlights, and plain stone architraves that rise from the plinth. The right range mirrors this design with architraved doorways in bays one and four. The left range is distinguished by pairs of large round-arched architraved coach-house doorways flanking a small central door with a casement above, and it includes four more bays, with the outer bays having additional wide architraved doorways.
All ranges have undergone alterations and feature inserted openings. The roofs are hipped, with the left range also having two dormers. The outer elevations include some sash windows, and the central range rises above an arcaded basement. The courtyard is enclosed by stone walls approximately 2.5 meters high, topped with flat copings and featuring a central gateway with rectangular piers. The interior has not been inspected.
