Description
Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 16th century or earlier, with remodeling from the 17th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with wooden lintels and features a concrete plain-tile roof with brick gable stacks. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall. The front facade has two windows and a wide doorway located to the left of centre, flanked by 3-light casements on both floors. Two of the lintels have carved chamfer stops, although they are re-used. There is an additional entrance in the right gable wall. The rear of the house also has similar 3-light casements and a 2-light wood-mullioned stair window, along with two blocked openings.
Inside, the right bay features an early first-floor structure with two deep chamfered cross beams and very heavy stop-chamfered joists. The left bay contains later stop-chamfered joists of a lighter scantling that span onto a spine beam. There are massive stacks at both ends, each with blocked fireplaces, and a winder stair located next to the stack at the right end. The earlier floor structure shows evidence of its original flanking bays, with similar chamfered joists on the right and heavy flat joists on the left.
