Description
Foxtownsend Cottages is a pair of small houses dating from the 18th century. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with some ashlar dressings and wooden lintels, topped with a Stonesfield-slate roof and featuring brick stacks. Each cottage has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic. The front of each cottage has two windows, with a central doorway situated between two-light casements that have lintels. The first floor also features similar casements with ashlar flat arches. Number 3 has a 20th-century porch, while Number 4 has a 19th-century slated canopy. The right end wall has two windows with leaded glazing. The roof has three stacks, stone gable parapets with projecting kneelers, and includes one gabled roof dormer for each cottage. The interiors have not been inspected.
