Description
Number 1 Stanwell Cottages is a house built in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed from regularly coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched roof covered with 20th-century tiles. The house has brick stacks at both ends and a two-unit plan, standing two storeys tall with a two-window range.
The entrance is located off-centre to the left and consists of a plank door set in a moulded wood frame with a wood lintel above. A 20th-century porch shelters the entrance, which is flanked by three-light metal casement windows in wood frames, also with wood lintels. Wrought-iron casement fasteners are present on these windows. The first floor has two similar windows. There are 19th-century brick extensions on the right side of the house. The interior is reported to have a wooden winder stair, although it has not been inspected.
