Description
No. 20 Market Square is a shop and dwelling built in the early 18th century. It features a combination of colourwashed limestone rubble and brick, topped with a plain-tile roof. The building consists of a main range and a short rear wing, standing two storeys high with attics. The front façade is brick at the first floor and includes a large central 20th-century window along with a deep moulded plaster eaves cove. To the far left of the modern shop front, there is a narrow section of rubble walling with a shaped oak bracket attached to a bressumer. The steep-pitched roof is adorned with two flat-headed roof dormers that have moulded cornices. The left end wall of the rubble returns to the short contemporary rear wing. The interior has not been inspected, and the 20th-century rear extension is not considered to have special architectural interest.
