Description

Station House, located approximately 15 meters northwest of the level crossing, is a former station-master's house built around 1850. It features coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings and has plain-tile roofs with rubble and brick stacks. The building has a Z-shaped plan and consists of one storey plus attics, designed in the Tudor style. The front of the house projects to the right, forming a gabled cross wing that includes a Tudor-arched doorway with a four-panel door. Each floor has a two-light small-pane casement window with a chamfered stone surround, wood mullion, and a four-centred relieving arch. There is a lateral stack on the right return wall, which has a rubble base and two tall brick diagonal shafts. The gabled return wall on the left is blind and features aligned windows of three and two lights, with an additional double-shafted lateral stack rising at the rear. The central rear wing is styled similarly. The gables are adorned with plain bargeboards and moulded apex pendants. The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of the London and North Western Railway, which opened in 1850.
