Description
The structure consists of two gateways, walls, and gatepiers, likely dating from the 17th century, although some parts have been rebuilt and renewed in the 20th century. The gateways feature renewed ironstone ashlar with elliptical chamfered heads and pillar surrounds. One of the gateways displays strapwork with the quartered arms of Chamberlayne on the east side and a sundial on the west side. The attached garden walls include a finely jointed ironstone wall to the north with stepped stone coping, and a wall to the east made of regularly coursed ironstone rubble with stone coping, which includes two square gatepiers of ashlar topped with ball finials and wrought-iron gates. To the south, there is a wall of renewed regularly coursed ironstone rubble with stepped coping and ashlar piers with ball finials. This structure is included for its group value.
