Description
Nos. 3, 4, and 5 Main Road are a row of three cottages built in the late 18th century, with 20th-century alterations and additions to the rear. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble and feature steeply pitched thatched roofs, with renewed brick ridge and end stacks. Each cottage has a single-unit plan; No. 5 is a single-storey building, while Nos. 3 and 4 are single-storey with attics.
Each cottage has a plank door set in a wooden frame with a wooden lintel. No. 5 includes a two-light wooden casement window and a round window, with no attic windows. No. 4 features three two-light casements and a round window on the ground floor, along with two eyebrow dormers. No. 3 has three two-light casements on the ground floor and a single eyebrow dormer. The entrance to No. 3 is located in a thatched brick extension on the right gable. Most of the casement windows in the row have lead cames and wrought-iron casement fasteners. Inside, the cottages contain beams and fireplaces from the 18th and 19th centuries.
