Description
The Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, possibly with earlier origins, and altered in the 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of colourwashed limestone rubble with wooden lintels, and has a thatched roof and concrete plain-tile sections, with stacks of rubble and brick. The house originally comprised two units, with a later addition. It has one storey and an attic to the original section, and two storeys to the added bay. The thatched main range has two two-light casement windows, and a central dormer. A raised section of walling to the left may have been the site of a second dormer. Entrances are located within the two-storey tiled bay, set back to the right, and in a section that connects with the adjacent cottage to the left. Brick stacks on rubble bases flank the main roof, and there is a gable stack on the added bay. The interior was noted to contain cruck construction.
