Description

Cruck Cottage is a house, likely largely of the 17th century, with alterations from the 18th century, and possibly earlier origins. It is constructed from limestone rubble with wooden lintels, and has thatch and artificial stone-slate roofs. The building follows a three-unit plan, with two storeys and a four-window front. The ground floor has two entrances and two three-light casement windows. Above, there are casements of three, two, three, and two lights. The roof is thatched over the two bays to the right, with chimney stacks to the left of each section; one is built of rubble, one of brick, and a 20th-century stack rises from the front right corner. A small, single-storey, 20th-century extension is located on the right-hand side. The interior has not been inspected but is believed to contain cruck timbers.
