Description
The George Inn is a house that has been converted into an inn, with a datestone indicating it was built in 1679. The building features regular coursed ironstone rubble and has a steeply pitched thatched roof. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys plus an attic high, with a range of four windows.
The doorway on the right has moulded stone jambs and a hood mould with lozenge-shaped label stops, leading to a 20th-century plank door. To the right of the doorway is a four-light stone mullioned window, also with a hood mould and label stops, and a small opening casement. To the left, there are three similar windows with two, three, and four lights. The attic contains three three-light windows and one two-light window of the same style.
The left end of the building has a badly weathered three-light stone mullion window with a hood mould and label stop, along with a similar but blocked two-light window. The right end features a moulded kneeler and stone coping, with renewed stonework on the right window. Inside, there is a stop-chamfered beam in the bar and chamfered joists throughout.
