Description
The Crown and Tuns Public House is an inn that dates from the mid-18th century, although it likely has earlier origins. It is constructed from coursed squared marlstone with some ashlar dressings and features a concrete plain-tile roof with brick end stacks. The building has a front range with subsidiary rear wings that flank a throughway. It stands three storeys tall and has a four-window front. The first floor is adorned with 12-pane sash windows that have ashlar flat arches, while the second floor features 6-pane sash windows. The ground floor includes a depressed-arched carriage entry, which is aligned to the right of centre and has a limestone-ashlar surround, along with flanking canted bay windows. To the extreme left, there are small oval panels with moulded stone surrounds at both the ground and first floors. The interior has not been inspected.
