Description

A row of eight tenements, now five cottages, located on King's Road in the village of Bloxham. The building dates to the 16th, 17th, and 19th centuries. It is constructed of regular coursed ironstone rubble with a thatched roof, featuring six brick stacks to the ends and ridge. The cottages are single-storey with attics, arranged in either a two-unit or single-unit plan. Cottages number 1 and 2 have 20th-century doors and windows facing King's Road. Cottages number 3 to 5 retain some original 2- and 3-light stone mullioned windows, some with hood moulds and label stops, or metal casements. Swept attic dormers are present. A sculptured stone has been re-set into the facade of number 3. The interior incorporates a three-bay 16th-century house, with one original roof truss surviving, featuring principals with short curved feet. The terrace was converted in the 19th century into Weaver’s Cottages and remodelled in 1956.
