Description

The Old Wine House is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the 16th century and was remodeled in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from regularly coursed ironstone and features a steeply pitched stone slate roof laid in diminishing courses. There are two rendered stacks at the rear, one on the ridge and one off the ridge. The structure has two storeys plus an attic.

The central entrance, which is from the 20th century, is flanked by two-storey bay windows. The ground floor shop front includes bow windows, and the stonework at this level has been renewed. The left bay is dated 1537, while the right bay is dated 1910. The first floors of the bays contain 5-light stone-mullioned windows. There are two gabled attic dormers, each featuring 2-light windows and ornamental bargeboards with pendants. The building also has pargetting.

At the rear, the structure is single-storey plus attic and has a four-window range. The 20th-century wooden shop front includes a coved hood, a panelled door, and modern windows. The bow window to the right has a wooden lintel. To the right, there is a 20th-century plank door and a wood-mullioned and transomed window, both with wooden lintels. The attic floor features two 2-light stone-mullioned windows and two gabled eaves dormers. Inside, there is a massive central stack.
