Description
No. 4 Silver Street is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It is built of coursed squared ironstone and features a thatched roof with brick ridge and end stacks, two of which are set on stone bases. The house has a four-unit, baffle entry plan, with an additional single-unit brick extension on the left, also under a thatched roof.
The front of the house has a three-window range. The entrance, located approximately in the center, has a fielded four-panelled door framed in wood. On the ground floor, there are three three-light 20th-century metal casements and a single-light window, all set beneath stone flat arches or lintels. The first floor also features three three-light 20th-century metal casements with painted wood lintels, and all windows are in their original openings. To the left in the brick extension, there is a blocked doorway with a wood lintel. The left side of the building has stone quoins. No. 4 was constructed as one building with No. 3 on the right. The interior has not been inspected.
