Description

HAWKHURST HIGH STREET TQ 7430-7530 (north side) 16/341 Milestone at 753 307 GV II Milestone. Late C18. Painted stone with painted iron plate. About 2 feet high with rounded head, the plate inscribed: LONDON 47 RYE 15½. The Kippings Cross and Flimwell Turnpike Trust was set up by Act of 1762. A good series of milestones survives.
