Description

The building at 17 and 19 Stone Street comprises two houses, later used as a shop. It was originally built in the 18th century and was significantly altered in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick, distinguished by a heavy bracketed cornice to the parapet. The roof is tiled on the left-hand side and slated on the right-hand side, featuring a rear stack to the left and a red brick stack to the right. The building is three storeys high and has a three-window front. The left-hand bay features an octagonal bay window with sashes. The two right-hand bays contain sashes, with smaller windows on the second floor, all set under gauged heads. A wide shop front occupies the ground floor, with a recessed entrance on the right and a large fascia board above.
