Description
This is a mid-18th century house, later altered in the 19th and 20th centuries, and currently comprising three shops. It is constructed of brick, with some moulded brick and tile-hanging to the rear, and has an old plain tile roof. The building is two storeys and an attic, with four wide bays, and a lean-to extension at the rear. The front facade features three shop fronts. The left-hand bay (Daisy Darling) has a 19th-century shop front with a plinth to a three-light window, thin columns between the lights, and a half-glazed door to the right. Above the shop front is a fascia and moulded cornice. The centre-left bay (Bonbec) has a 19th-century four-light shop window, with a recessed doorway to one side, pilasters and thin columns between the lights, and a fascia and moulded cornice above. The right-hand bay of the centre has a 20th century shop front with two plate-glass windows and a glazed door, with a fascia spanning the width of the shop. On the first floor, the left-hand side has original sashes that have been altered in the 19th century, while the right-hand side has twelve-pane sashes. All first-floor windows are set under ribbed arches with keystones, with two sashes in the central bays. A dentilled cornice runs along the top of the facade, above which are four two-light, hip-roofed eyebrow dormers. The right-hand gable wall is kneelered, and a substantial diagonally-set stack is located in the centre of the building.
