Description

Brenchley Manor Oast is an oasthouse that has been converted into a house, likely built in the late 19th century and converted in the late 20th century. It features Flemish bond brickwork, with the first floor of the stowage covered in weatherboarding.

The building is located to the northwest of Brenchley Manor. The stowage has a roof that runs north to south and includes two kilns at the north end, one attached to the north end and another on the west side, both having a square plan. A conservatory was added to the west side in the late 20th century.

The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical east front that has seven windows on one side and one window for the kiln. The roof is hipped at the left end of the stowage and features a pyramidal roof with a cowl on the kiln, which has a band of brick cogging below the roofline. The stowage includes a pair of tall plain doors on the left, a smaller door to the right, and small-pane casement windows, one of which has been converted from a loft opening. The kiln has one round-headed window on the ground floor and a two-light casement window on the first floor.

This building is included for its group value with Brenchley Manor.
