Description

This is an oasthouse, likely dating from the mid-to-late 19th century, converted into a house. It occupies a prominent location at the eastern edge of Brenchley village, opposite the parish church. The construction is a stowage frame, with some areas weatherboarded and others tile-hung on the first floor. It features a brick kiln with a conical roof and cowl, and has peg-tile roofs.

The stowage roof runs at right angles to the road, aligned north-south, with a two-span roof that is half-hipped to the north and fully hipped to the south. A 20th-century entrance is located at the north end, accompanied by a recessed porch and a garage door to the right. The west elevation of the stowage contains one first-floor window and two ground-floor windows. The southern return has two large 20th-century windows. The kiln also incorporates substantial 20th-century openings, including a French window at its south end. Brick cogging runs below the eaves. The interior has not been inspected. The property is included on the list for its group value.
