Description

FRITTENDEN BUCKHURST ROAD TQ 8041-8141 (north side) 13/10 Oasthouse and barn about 9.1.80 15 metres south of Manor Farmhouse GV II Oasthouse, with additional barn/stowage. C18 or earlier and early and late C19. Timber framed and weather boarded with plain tiled roof, with red brick and tiled oasts. The earlier barn range to left with hipped roof and catslide outshot to rear and at end left with boarded door and shuttered opening on first floor and doubled cart doors and boarded door on ground floor. Full height passageway to right acting as main entrance to farmyard, but also used as a threshing bay, with the roof line stepped up to right to oast stowage, with shuttered window openings, boarded door to right on first floor with exterior stairs and landing, and boarded door on ground floor. Square plan at end right, with brick corbelling, and earlier rounded, with brick dentil cornice, to rear, both complete with cowls.
