Description
The Old Barn is a barn and oasthouse located on Coursehorn Lane. The barn likely dates from the early 18th century and was altered in the early 19th century when the oasthouse was added. It features a timber-framed structure clad in weatherboarding, except for the gable end opposite the oasthouse, which is made of brick with tile hanging. The barn has a half-hipped peg-tiled roof and stands two storeys tall, with central cart entrances and three later casement windows on the southwest elevation. Inside, the barn consists of five bays with an oak frame, staggered purlins, a collar beam, and no ridge piece. It includes some diagonal and curved tension braces and jowled upright posts. The oasthouse, added at the end, is conical in shape, constructed of red brick with grey headers in Flemish bond, featuring a cogged eaves cornice and a pyramidal roof topped with a cowl and fantail.
