Description

This is an 18th-century cottage row and shop, now used as a house. It incorporates some earlier fabric. The ground floor is painted brick, while the first floor is tile-hung, with a plain tiled roof. The building is two storeys and an attic, set on a plinth. It has a half-hipped roof and stacks at the rear right and left, along with two hipped dormers. Originally, the windows were arranged regularly; now, the first floor has four glazing bar sashes, and the ground floor has three, with a shop bay window on the right-hand side. There are paired boarded doors to the left, sheltered by a single flat hood, and paired half-glazed doors to the right, beneath a flat hood that extends from the shop bay fascia. A catslide outshot projects at the rear.

The interior reveals an exposed late frame, though of relatively small timber. The outshot contains a jettied section with studded walling that appears older, potentially belonging to the adjacent earlier structure (listed separately as number 8/178). The two buildings share a flying freehold.
