Description

The Abbey is a building originally constructed as a cloth hall in the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame set on a red brick plinth and is tile hung. The roof is hipped and covered with plain tiles. There is a tall brick ridge stack located off-centre to the left, along with brick end stacks on the projecting right-hand wing. A gabled dormer is present on the left slope of the roof. The building has an L-plan layout with a projecting wing to the right, and it stands two storeys high with an attic. The front has an irregular arrangement of three windows, which are casements, and there is a two-storey gabled and plastered bay on the left return front of the right-hand wing.
