Description

TQ 53 NW SPELDHURST THE GREEN (South side),LANGTON GREEN 7/491 Stables approx 10m north east of Hollonds Farmhouse

GV II

Former stables. Early C19. Coursed blocks of sandstone with peg-tile roof.

Plan: Stable block facing south and backing onto The Green. Single storey.

Exterior: Low building has a 3-window front of C20 windows with a plain plank door at the right end. Central window is blocking a former doorway. The other 2 windows have stone hoodmoulds made like floating cornices on shaped stone brackets. Roof is hipped both ends.

Interior: Not inspected.

This stable block adds interest and variety to the attractive group of buildings around The Green. Its blind rear wall of large sandstone blocks is important to the appearance of The Green.
