Description

John's Cottage is a hall-house that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 15th century and is clad in 18th-century materials. The structure is timber framed, with painted brick on the ground floor and tile hanging on the first floor. It features a very steep plain tiled roof that is hipped to the left, with a low brick stack positioned off-ridge to the front right. The building has two storeys and two windows on each floor, along with a half-glazed door to the left. Inside, there is a substantial timber frame with heavily jowled posts and chamfered floor beams. The cottage is set back from the street line and is partially obscured by buildings on either side.
