Description

The boundary stone of the City of Rochester is a historical marker dating from 1799 and 1896. It consists of a square stone with a rounded cap that originally marked the jurisdiction limit of the City of Rochester Admiralty Court along the River Medway. In 1896, the stone was re-erected on a large stone plinth featuring moulded pediments on each side, a moulded base, and a carved roundel depicting a galleon in full sail on one side. This stone is referred to as Hawkwood Stone on the Ordnance Survey map.
