Description

Lantern Cottage and No. 153 is a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, with a 19th-century extension and possibly built on a 14th-century base. The structure is made of flint and red brick, topped with a plain tiled roof. It has one storey and an attic, along with a lower ground floor featuring a flint and brick plat band, pilaster strips leading to the roof, two hipped dormers, and a central stack. The front includes one glazing bar sash window and a boarded door to the centre right, with 20th-century glazed doors on the left and right returns. The rear elevations are made of 19th-century brick. It is believed that the building was originally a 14th-century brewhouse before being converted into cottages.
