Description
No. 79 is a terrace house located on The Plains of Waterloo in Ramsgate, built around 1818. It is constructed of stock brick, partially painted, and features a slate roof. The building has three storeys and a basement, with a parapet and a stack positioned to the left. On the second floor, there is a glazing bar sash window, while the first floor features a two-storey canted bay with French windows and margin light fanlights. A tented verandah with wooden rails, piers, and scrolled brackets adds to the architectural interest. The ground floor has glazing bar sashes set in moulded architraves, and to the right, there is a glazed door topped with a semi-circular fanlight in a fluted keyed surround, accessed by three steps with simple rails. A glazing bar sash window is also present in the basement. This house is depicted on Collard and Hurst's map from 1822.
