Description

This is a group of a chest tomb and four headstones belonging to the Long family, located within 2 meters north of the Church of St Laurence. The chest tomb, situated very close to the church, is made of brick and features a moulded top slab. It is inscribed to Old Alexander Long, who died in 1708, and to Alexander Long, who died in 1723. The tomb stands about 2 feet high and is decorated with a crude skull and double cross bones in a scrolled shape at the head.

The first headstone commemorates Mary Long, the wife of Alexander, who died in 1732. This headstone is about 1 foot high and displays two skulls with palm fronds in a double segmental head. The second headstone is for Mary Long, who died in 1738, and stands about 2 feet high, featuring a segmental head with winged hourglass decoration. The final headstone is for Elizabeth Long, who died in 1742, and is also about 2 feet high. It has a double segmental head adorned with two winged cherubs' heads on crossed bones and trumpets.
