Description
Freemasons Tavern is a public house built in 1908, located on the north-east side of Ramsgate High Street. The building features green glazed tiles, rubbed red brick, and a slate roof. It has a quadrant-shaped plan for the main bar, with a rectangular rear block. The structure is two storeys high and includes rusticated pilaster strip quoins and modillioned eaves beneath a hipped quadrant roof, with chimney stacks at the rear right. The first floor has three glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor is characterized by a plinth that supports columns with a fascia. The facade has recessed plate glass windows that curve with the building, along with half-glazed doors on either side, all adorned with etched and stained glass featuring cusped decoration in the frames. The rear block is constructed from utilitarian red brick. Inside, the tavern has a panelled dado, bar, and ceiling, which radiate out to the quadrant circumference.
