Description

This is an early 19th-century building, likely an alteration of an 18th-century structure, located on the south-west side of High Street, Ramsgate. It is now used as offices. The building is rendered and has a slate roof. It stands three storeys high with a basement, set on a plinth and topped with a cornice parapet to a hipped roof, with stacks at the rear. The second floor has two casement windows and a central blank window space. The first floor has three sash windows, each with a bowed balcony featuring a palm-pattern design. A large picture window occupies the ground floor, with two basement windows below. The left side of the ground floor has a door consisting of six raised and fielded panels, topped with a semi-circular fanlight. This door is framed by a fluted Doric pilaster doorcase, featuring an open pediment on entablature blocks, and is accessed by four moulded steps. The building was marked on Collard and Hurst's map of Ramsgate from 1822.
