Description

This group of four cannons and a tide ball post is located on Sion Hill in Ramsgate. The cannons are dated 27th November 1821 and are engraved with the Royal Harbour of Ramsgate and the town's arms, featuring serial numbers 2.3.13, 2.3.10, 2.3.17, and 2.3.15. They are muzzle-loaded and mounted on restored trucks, which are set in a 20th-century concrete seating area. In the center of the group is the stump of a late 18th-century tide-ball mast.
