Description

The mooring post, located to the north-east of the dock entrance, was erected in the early 19th century. It features an 18th-century cast-iron, 32-pounder cannon that is buried in the dock side and serves as a mooring post for ships. These cannons were commonly repurposed for mooring after they became obsolete as weapons. This post is one of the last two surviving examples of this type in Kingston-upon-Hull.
