Description
The Former Corporation Pier Station is a building located on Nelson Street in Kingston upon Hull, dating back to 1880. Originally a railway station for the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Company, it now serves as offices. The structure is made of brick with ashlar dressings and features a gabled and hipped slate roof with two ridge stacks. It has a plinth and a rendered band at the first floor level.
The building is two storeys high and has an eight-window range of two-light stone mullioned plain sashes. Above this, there is a central dormer with a shouldered coped gable, topped with a finial and containing a clock, along with a trefoil that displays the company's initials. On the ground floor, to the right, there is a pair of doors with an overlight, flanked by three two-light stone mullioned plain sashes. To the left, there is a similar door and overlight. This station was constructed to provide rail services that connected to the Humber Ferry operating from Corporation Pier.
