Description
No. 53 and 55 on Foad's Lane are a pair of cottages dated 1737. They are built of painted brick with a plain tiled roof. The cottages are one storey high with an attic, featuring kneelered parapet gables and stacks at the rear on both the left and right sides. There are two hipped dormers. The wooden casements on the left and right have deeply recessed reveals and a segmental cornice above. In the centre, there are glazing bar sashes on both the left and right. To the left, there is a panelled door in a lean-to porch, while the right side has a boarded door also in a lean-to porch. The date is displayed on a 20th-century nameplate and may not reflect the actual date of construction.
