Description

Sevenscore House is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is built of brown brick with red brick dressings and has a plain tiled roof. The building stands two storeys high with an attic, set on a plinth that features a moulded plat band and a moulded wooden modillion eaves cornice. The hipped roof has two gabled dormers and stacks located at the rear, one on the left and one projecting on the right. The front has a regular arrangement of five glazing bar sash windows with box frames on the upper floor and four on the ground floor, which have basket arched heads. The central entrance door consists of six raised and fielded panels, with the top two being glazed, and is sheltered by a porch covered in clipped hedge.

Inside, the house has been significantly altered in the 19th century, although some moulded cornices remain, and the panelling is now concealed. There are newel stairs leading to the attic and a blocked staircase to the cellars. The property also features three fine barrel vaulted cellars. At the rear, two ranges have been rebuilt in 19th century brick but still show some evidence of framing.
