Description
This is a railed chest tomb and headstone located about 40 metres north of the Church of St. Laurence. The tomb, dating from the early 19th century, features raised panelled sides with chamfered corners, incised corner piers, and a moulded top slab. It is surrounded by crescent-headed rails with urn finial baluster principals. The tomb commemorates Francis Lowe, who died in 1776. The headstone stands approximately 3 and a half feet high and includes a long salutary inscription. It is designed with Rocaille scalloped shoulders, a scrolled egg and tongue cornice, scallop detailing, and a winged cherub head set within a sunburst.
