Description
The Farrier's Cottage is a house that now includes a shop, dating from the 17th century and altered in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame, with some parts exposed and brick infill, while other sections have been refaced and extended with red brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles.
The entrance front has a one-storey wing on the right, which displays tumbled-in brickwork in the gable facing the road and a freestanding stack. This wing contains a two-light wooden casement window with a cast iron air vent above it, and there is a boarded door in the extension to the right. To the left, there is a recessed wing with a sash window, a horizontally sliding sash, and a panelled door. Additionally, there is a two-storey, tile-hung projecting wing to the left that features a tripartite sash window, a wooden casement, and a half-glazed door on the ground floor. At the rear, there is a cross wing that rises two storeys, topped with a hipped roof and a stack at the end on the right.
