Description
Berkeley House is a house dating from around 1700, with mid-19th century alterations. It is timber framed and covered with rendered brick, and has rendered and tile-hung sections at the rear. The house features a plain tiled roof at the back and a slate roof at the front. The entrance front, which is from the mid-19th century, has two storeys and an attic storey, with a string course, cornice, and a corniced parapet. It also has vermiculated and rusticated quoins, with stacks on both the left and right sides. There are two sash windows on each floor, and two-storey segmental bays on the left and right, all adorned with pediments and key stones. The central entrance has a half-glazed door set in a flat porch supported by Corinthian columns. The rear range has two storeys and a half-hipped roof, featuring irregularly placed sash windows, a Gothick-traceried light, and plate glass windows. There is a projecting tile-hung wing that may date from the 15th or 16th century. Inside, moulded beams are visible in both parallel wings.
