Description
Heathfield is a house dating from the 16th century, specifically marked with the year 1580. It features a timber frame that is exposed, with plaster infill, and is underbuilt with painted brick. The roof is plain tiled. The building has three framed bays facing the road, each constructed separately. The left end bay is one storey with an attic and includes a gabled dormer with carved bargeboards. The central bay is close-studded, stands two storeys tall on a plinth, and has a jettied first floor supported by brackets. The right end bay is also two storeys on a plinth, jettied on dragon posts, and has a continuous jettied return front. The return features a hipped roof with gablets, and there are stacks located at the rear. The first floor has two wooden casement windows, while the ground floor has two 20th-century metal casements and a board door in a moulded surround on the left end, accompanied by a 20th-century five-light mullioned sidelight. Inside, there is a beam dated 1580.
