Description

The Vicarage is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with additions made in the early and mid-19th century. It has a timber-framed core with a plain tiled roof, and painted brick wings that feature slate roofs. Originally, the building was L-shaped, but the long range on the right was replaced by an early 19th-century wing, with additional wings added to the left and rear in the later 19th century. The house has two storeys, featuring a central projecting hip and part of a returned roof line, with the 19th-century slate roofs stepping up to the left and right. There are six chimney stacks arranged from left to right. The windows consist of irregular five glazing bar sashes on each floor, and there is a half-glazed door located to the centre right within a flat-roofed porch. Inside, there are few details remaining from the earlier house, but there is a marble fireplace dating from around 1820.
